Birch Risk Advisors Expands Strategically, Former Tax Credit Co. CEO and Experian Executive, Brandon Edwards, Joins as Partner in Los Angeles
Brandon Edwards brings over 20 years of experience with corporate tax services, M&A and corporate expansion to oversee the firm’s renewables tax credit buyer and seller transaction platform.
NEW YORK and LOS ANGELES — July 29, 2024 — Birch Risk Advisors, a leading provider of sophisticated structuring, tax insurance and tax credit transfer solutions, has made a significant addition to its team as Brandon Edwards joins as Partner in Los Angeles. Brandon leads the team that facilitates renewable energy tax credit transfer transactions. Birch combines its team of ex-Goldman Sachs structuring advisors and seasoned transactional risk experts with a buyer/seller transfer platform led by Brandon to provide a full-service, value-added solution for tax credit monetization.
“The renewables transfer market is growing quickly, and we want to be an important part of it. Our priority is to make the process of matching buyers and sellers and completing transactions as efficient as possible, enabling investment-grade buyers, energy developers and manufacturers to work together, optimizing outcomes while reducing resource expenditure and execution risk,” Brandon commented.
Brandon is a seasoned entrepreneur with over 25 years of experience building high-growth enterprises and spearheading successful mergers & acquisitions.
“We are so pleased to welcome Brandon to our executive team,” remarked Sheldon Elefant, Partner, Birch Risk Advisors. “In the past few months, we’ve added experienced executives to the Birch team to enhance our renewables bench strength and global insurance capabilities. Strengthening our corporate renewables buyer panel is the next logical step in our strategic growth plan, and Brandon’s talents will help take our firm to the next level.”
Brandon added: “I have a passion for helping corporate tax departments make material contributions to earnings. Since the enactment of the Inflation Reduction Act, corporations have new opportunities to increase earnings, reduce ETR and improve free cash flow. With transferability, corporate taxpayers should consider their annual corporate tax liability as an asset to be monetized. Our goal is to be a strategic partner in the planning and execution of these transactions.”
Prior to joining Birch, Brandon spent two decades providing solutions for corporate tax departments while leading Tax Credit Co. (TCC), a tax credit advisory and technology-enabled services firm serving the Fortune 500. Brandon completed two strategic acquisitions for TCC including Incentives Advisors, a tax credit technology firm, and uConfirm, a verification of income and employment technology platform. Brandon sold TCC to Experian in 2021, as a key component of the new Experian Employer Services division. He served as Chief Strategy Officer of the division for three years.
Brandon joins Birch Risk Advisory Director Steve Bunson; Partners Sheldon Elefant, Barry Sklar, and David Danesh; and former NovaSource Power CEO Troy Lauterbach, who serves as Senior Advisor, Renewables.
