Howard Morris, Former Co-CEO of World’s Largest Law Firm, Dentons, Joins Birch Risk Advisors

Birch’s international clientele to benefit from Morris’ unparalleled expertise in navigating global M&A markets and managing complex structured transactions

NEW YORK and LONDON — August 5, 2024 Birch Risk Advisors, a leading provider of sophisticated structuring, tax insurance and tax credit transfer solutions, announced today that Howard Morris has joined the firm as Senior Advisor, Transactions. Morris, the former Co-CEO of law firm giant, Dentons, is a highly regarded transactional lawyer and global strategic specialist with a proven track record in transformational growth, international transactions and corporate negotiations. Morris will focus on cross-border transactions and advancing Birch’s footprint across the US and Europe.

“It is an honor and pleasure to welcome Howard to Birch,” remarked David Danesh, Partner at Birch Risk Advisors. “Howard’s expertise in complex, cross-border and Pan-European transactions, extensive knowledge of intricate restructuring and insolvency proceedings, and his rigorous approach to deal-making are unmatched. His insights and skills will prove invaluable to our global clientele seeking to transfer unique risks to the insurance market.”

Subsequent to Dentons, and prior to joining the Birch team, for nearly ten years, Morris was Head of the European Business Restructuring & Insolvency Practice for Morrison Foerster in London. During his tenure there, he advised the Creditors Committee in the chapter 11 and administration of Valaris PLC for the purpose of converting $7 billion to equity. He also counseled boards of late-stage growth companies in the tech industry in managing financial crises.

As Co-CEO of Dentons, Morris led the firm’s client development efforts across the US and EMEA, marketing the firm to sovereign wealth funds, financial institutions and global corporations, in addition to institutionalizing key client relationships across Dentons’ international footprint. A graduate of Queen Mary College, University of London in 1978, Mr. Morris qualified as a barrister in 1979 and as a solicitor in 1990.

“Uniquely positioned to handle the largest and most complex transactional risk matters, Birch’s substantial industry and subject matter knowledge sets them apart from others. I am proud to be joining a team of this caliber and I look forward to working with them to advance their global platform,” remarked Morris.

Morris will work closely with Birch’s New York-based leadership team of former Goldman Sachs executives, Steve Bunson and Barry Sklar, and transactional risk veterans, Sheldon Elefant and David Danesh. He will also collaborate with Brandon Edwards, who joins as Partner in Los Angeles and Troy Lauterbach, a Senior Advisor in Birch’s Renewables group.
